My Convict pair spawned in my 55gal bowfront and I want some advice.

I have done my own research but I just want some confirmation from some people with real experience.

My questions:

1.How long until they hatch?
2.How long until they can eat food I give them?
3.What to feed them?
4.Should I remove them and the female into a 10gal I have handy?(might not be able to not sure how many plugs I have left)
5.Food/Sell/or more breeding pairs?
6.Can more then one pair be in a 55gal?
7.Anything you guys can tell me?

Forgot to add that they have a senegal and a upside down cat as tank mates, so far no probs with them

i have bred convicts before and mine are currently spawning now. for your questions

1 not exactly sure mine spawned when i was on vacation and were free swimming when i got back probably about 2-3 days to hatch and maybe another day or 2 to become free swimming

2 as soon as there free swimming they can eat crushed up flake foods or baby brine shrimp

3 crushed up flakes or baby brine shrimp

4 I wouldnt, the move may stress out the female enough to make her eat her young if you must move them, move only the babies

5 i would just feed em to your other fish theres no market for them nor is there any need for you to have more than 1 breeding pair (if your just using them to feed your other fish)

6 Yes you could easily do 2-3 pairs of them in a 55. Edit: with a senegal in there i would stick with 1 pair maybe 2 so he's not constantly being bothered by something lol

7 VERY aggressive to other fish while breeding mine keep all 6 of my piranhas at either end of the tank (their "nest" is in the middle)

Well my cons spawned 2 days ago i think on the right side of tank in a small pot looking thingy lol

im gonna see if i can get brine cuz i heard those are really good for them

not gonna get another pair

I won't worry about the tankmates until a problem happens because I am pretty sure they are pretty mellow so far. I thought that there would be a blood bath when the cat swam through the pot but even the larger male was okay with it. Just a bit of a chase.

Anything else anybody?

Idk whats going on. The male has stopped guarding the eggs and the female swims off a few times aswell.

idk if this is normal or not just thought it was a bit weird

Well, the eggs hatched and there are a ton of wigglers on the bottom of the pot. The male has become very protective and tried to stare me down when I was looking at them. Should be 2-3 more days and they will be swimming around.

My experience with convicts,

spawning goes perfect, everything goes perfect, until they start free swimming, then my convicts will attack (and mostly kill) anything in the tank, even when i put my finger against the glass, they ram into the glass!

After a week then, the male convict, will take the offspring, and hide it from the female, and even defend it from her.

At this point i net out the offspring (they are strong and survive it)

If i would not do this, i think the female might get very damaged, or worse
