some where over the rainbow
IM SOO HAPPY!! i came home and my female was realy colorfull, and when i walked by the tank she went scooting back to a pot in the back, i looked and there are about 50 eggs, cant realy see them too well to get an accuret count. i know that this isnt a big acomplishment, but it is the first egg laying fish i have had that has had anything that comes close to a spawn. did guppys. swords, platys. and mollys but didnt find them interesting, and they all got eaten.... by my (RIP) 8 in channel cat aka hoova.

The first time is always so exciting! Good job! :)

congrats, now remeber the parents are good prtecters, plus the longer you leave them with the parents, the faster they will grow, because they feed of the parents skin, if you have a lot more fish in the aquarium, see if the fry starts desapering, if it doesn't leave them be till the parents satart to eat them, this will be about a month. if they do start to disaper, then witn a hose like if you where taking whater from the aquarim, suck them out to another aqua, using the whater you are sucking out with the fry.... hope you do fine, they are pretty easy... but fun;)

yeah i have been looking at them last night and today, and i dont think the male did his thing... the eggs are green and i heard that you should be abil to see their eye on the secound day... you can tell me im wrong, only if ya give me some info. heh JK you can tell me im wrong anytime, i just wont ever speek to you again...

thanks for the info filiportela, they are in a tank by them selves. i didnt know the parents ate the babys, i got the impression from all the stuff i read that they cared for the babys till they swam off, and i rember reading somewhere that sometimes if one or two of the babys sticks around, they will sometimes help care for the new spawn.

P.S. sorry if there are any words spelt wrong, or what i typed didnt make sence, i cant seem to get the typeing thing down tonight... took me 30 min just to type this post script... jk. it was accully more like 29 min...

the eggs should be brown, and if its their first time laying eggs they may eat them. the male may kill the female and keep her away from the young. I have had a couple pairs of breeding con's and just got another pair.

congrats man. hope that everything goes well :)

2 to 3 days give or take, yes they will mate for a while and once they get the hang of it you're gonna have a neverending supply of fry
