My very tiny (female 1.5" male 3") pair of convicts just laid 300 eggs in a tank with a 7" oscar, 4" jack dempsey, 3" pike cichlid, and 2" severum. Not even the oscar goes near the cons. It's incredible!

Yeah, they'll do that. Funny isnt it? The oscar would prolly fit the cons in his mouth. But too scared. Wait till they hatch. Then the other fish will be legging it!

Just wait, it gets better. Mine did this in a tank of large fish. When the fry became free swimming dad took them for a little swim, around the entire tank.
If any one didn't move fast enough it got attacked. Four inch silver dollars, 7 inch JD, eight inch leporinus, or the severum gang. It didn't matter, dad chased them away. Fortunately a nocturnal cat keeps the numbers down.

Relief. Little rascals they are. Yet another cichlid the same size is not a threat. Although I do know how hard they try to bite you. I love watching thier faces twitch when I put my hand in.

My male bit me so hard once it broke the skin! That was back when he was only 2 inches long! Now whenever I put my hand in the tank (for tank maintenance, etc.) and he approaches I get it out of there fast!

I think my con feeder tank is keeping my blue crayfish at bay.

My friends oscar is 8" and 3 years old, sad eh? Kept in a 35. Anyway you go to put your fingers in and although I know it wont hurt Im always scared to do so. Yet I dont mind being torn apart by angels, clown loaches andcons at feeding time.

BTW This oscar gets 1 or 2 single blocks of bloodworms a day. Nothing else. How Sad! My friends dad is a real harda$$

ive had a pair of convicts kill of half of my 55 gallon tank they can be quite fierce
