how chould i tell if my con laid eggs
she dosent go underr the flower pot but she always going under it
is there a way to tell if she laid her eggs

You can tell if they've laid eggs by looking for aggression levels to be up, actually LOOK for eggs, and put your hand in the tank. Nine times out of ten the male or female will attempt to bite you.

BigSpizz, they do not have fading colours whilst having eggs. Its during this time when thier colours are at thier best.

I have about 20 pairs of cons breeding right now..........The colors are at their best leading up to laying, right after I can ALWAYS tell by the dramatic loss of color in the female. I have had them lay eggs in gravel also and could not see the eggs ever, and then one day....supprise a whole bunch of fry free swimming even. lol

wow 20 pairs, you must be over your head with fry and have stacks of baby brine shrimp and tanks, who do you feed the fry to?
also i agree with big spizz, there colours are best just before they lay eggs. its called breeding colours, so they loose it as they have bred:) and do look faded

I have a TON of fry, and feed them to my Red devil, jags, jack, larger Africans, vieja argentea, black nasty, parrots,......I have allot of eaters as well. I feed the fry crushed flakes, the real cheap kind from wizzalmart, and always keep a plec in all my fry tanks. I have short bodies, commons, and a wild caught pair from lake nicaraugua.......

My 3 plecos in a 35G dont even attempt to eat the eggs.

About the faded colours, its just IME the females and males would always retain thier colouring for about 3-4 days after laying the eggs. I might just have a special cons?

haha, doesnt the pleco eat the fry? you feed wild caught fry to fish wont anyone buy them off you?

Not the wild ones, and yes people speak for the fry, and I have a friend who owns an lfs. I try to keep at least half dozen of the best and instead of "culling" I find homes and feed the rest, not particularly in that order.

I have a con who only shows color on black gravel, natural, or anything light, he looks to have no convict characteristics. lol
