i just picked up 3 cons
one about the size of my hand (male)
and the other 2 about 3 inches (female)
sadly they didnt have a big female :irked:
theyre going in my 10g
i was just wondering how long before they start havin the babies?? :screwy:
theyve realllyyyy gotten used to the tank already
eating and swiming and its only been 15 minutes in
and will the combo of big and small create problems?? And also if the male will breed with both females?

They should be ready to breed now I'd say, depending on how long they've been in the tank. I can't remember the breeding temp and ph that convicts prefer but I'm sure someone could tell us.

I would wait for them to pair of then remove the odd female. I won't leave her in there she might get the **** bet out of her.

from my experience they are just too aggressive for that amount of space. the most I ever have and would keep in a 10 is a small female. you may get it to work out but Im just telling you my experience

true :)

I have a pair of cons in a 10 gallon and they bred within a week. I really dont like keeping them in such a small tank but they were beatin the crap out of my other fish. I would highly recommend takin one of the females out because when two of them do pair they will most likely kill the other female.

I have had my 3 convicts for about 3 weeks now (not the first convicts I have had though) and they have already spawned. I think the eggs got gaffled by the other fish though but am not 100% sure. The convicts in question are about 2 inches long.

I had convicts breeding in a 10 gallon before. A couple of times in fact. But it 1 female and a smaller male.

When I had Cons, they took a few weeks to get started...breeding that is. If the male is super big compared to the females, he might kill thiem in a tank that small. I had the male kill the female in a 20g that I had them in.
