convits 10g?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, it is OK I suppose, however male will eventually kill the female for sure :grinno:

Bottom line is this: In order to successfully keep a breeding pair of convicts FER LYFE you will require a 20 gallon tank MINIMUM. Actually 29 or 30 would be preferred to accomidated legions of little convicts babies that will result from your endeavor

I don't consider a 10g a good tanksize for convicts. A young pair might work but as they age and grow they will need either a 20g long or 30g. Convicts are aggresive, even pairs will attack eatchother and a 10g would provide little room to hide. Plus, what are you going to do with all those fry? Your tank would be greatly overstocked with a bunch of growing fry in there.

i have a 45g that has 6 tiger barbs and a blue acara as well as 3 convicts 2 of which i would be putting into the 10g once they breed i would leave the fry and put the 2 adults back into the 45

WHEW! Thank GOD!

You shouldn't cram two 4-6" fish into a 10 gallon fish tank for a long period of time

Not to piss anyone off but this sounds crazy to me.... IMO

I'd say maybe if its temporary but Thats a tiny tank! Won't you be able to remove both parents within a couple weeks or do they have to stay with the fry for a while?
