What is the deal with cooked Shrimp? I always hear that you want to give your rays raw shrimp. Is it just that it loses some nutritional value or is it really bad for them?

I've always fed raw, and with the shell most of the time. Amino acids are the name of the game when it comes to feeding shrimp. The shell is loaded with them, so don't forget to leave it attached!

I don't know about you, but why would you even consider it. Around here cooked shrimp is almost $4 more a pound that raw shrimp with the shell on.

That is the response i kind of expected. Just checking to make sure. Thanks for the response.

I add a little garlic powder to a glass of water then wash the shrimp in it, my fish get overly excited and go into a feeding frenzy when I prepare the shrimp this way..FYI raw or cooked I serve both depending upon the sales at the grocery store.. I also from time to time drop a few drops of baby vitamins, (no iron formula) on the shrimp before feeding.

hmm good idea with the garlic powder. I may have to try one with fresh extract of garlic.

I don't know how prawning works in your part of the world, but here in Aus, they get cooked with alot of salt water.. sometimes, they have alot of salt on the shells too, I wouldn't feed anything I had with cooked prawns, besides, what's the matter with some raw prawns?:P
