I recently bought a 5 gal bucket of food.
It contains a mix of aro sticks, cari sticks, mass pellets, trout chow, and a couple others.
My question is :
Is there any way to combine all this food into waffers or little cookies that SINK so my rays and other will eat it?

Right now, most of this food floats, and even overnight is still in the corner of my tank.
I know my rays would eat it if they could find it in the sand.

Any ideas?
Anyone ever try this?
If I were to bake the food mix, would I Cook the goodness out of it?

my thought would be that if all the ingredients float (aro sticks, cari sticks, etc.) then your homemade wafers would float. If you were going to do this id think you would need to combine the pellets with something that sinks...

just do a quick diy gel food mix

blend up the pellets into powder
add unflavored gelatin and hot water then combine till smooth. if you youtube diy fish food you'll get the idea. you can add whatever you want, liek fish fillet, shrimp etc.

i did it this week. from my experience all diy gel food will sink. you'll have to figure out how much gelatin you'll need based on how much moisture is in your mix.

you can spread it into a maybe a 1" layer, cut to size, freeze in freezer bags.
with the amount of food you have, i would make small batches as needed. i don't recommend making more then you can feed in a month.

I made a batch of some gel food and it was pretty easy.
Problem is : rays didn't care for it.
They went right after the food but didn't eat.
I think the next batch is going to have NLS or massivor pellets in it. I know they like those pellets.

I made it out of jello mix

Pellets, squid, tilapia and shrimp then jello as binding ingredients

If you still want to do it, I suggest feed them with your mix before doing a water change

And at least his fish ate some.
I fed my rays this morning with a different mix.
I'll check when I get home to see if they ate any.
