I haven't bought it. The lfs was asking 50 but now they're asking 80.

No, they are not rare and not too common. Something in between.
If the LFS has had him for years, they have a lot invested in him, so I'd pass. Unless it is an 8"-12" fish. Then the price'd be fair... But if it is in a bad shape, I'd pass, again, unless they beef him up, then I'd take him. Confused enough?
