Cool Fish For A 30 Gallon?

I am setting up a 30 gallon with a tetrafauna viquarium soon and it will have a day gecko or crested gecko(s) in it... So anyways, there will be abput 10-15 gallons of COMPLETELY over filtered water for fish... what can i get that can live its life in there and coexist with a day/crested gecko? (Obviously ALOT of options but just tell me some cool readily available fish I could try...)
In other words, what would YOU do in the water area of this tank?

It's not easy because of the small size. Maybe some cory cats or a pair of rams. That'll give you color and motion.

I don't know about reptiles but assuming they won't bug the fish, I would probably do say 4 black neon tetras and a banjo catfish (just because I love catfish).

Just a bunch of rams(german blues, 7 females, 3 males) and a angel pair(black one and white one).
