I'm almost positive tht the fish I want are Gambusia. Like 20 in a 30 gal. I was googling and I found this online:
Gambusia1.jpg

Cool, huh?

That is an interesting one, but he's upside down ;)

If you keep multiple males in that tank, give them lots of places to get away from each other. They are very competitive and are not above killing each other to have access to as many females as possible

wow it is! thougt the fins looked wierd:confused:

btw i cant pick the # of males/females on live aquaria so ill just put a bunch of fake plants:confused:

i have kept gambusias before, they are interesting to watch.
i found that they reproduce easily, the one in the pic is a male, notice the little needle like fin on his belly(top in this pic).

uhhh not to be a hippocrite but a few Black Ghosts in a 10 gal in my lfs. i read they can be in a 30 gal and are easy to care for. i put gambusias on hold for a while...

I've got a pond full of those little buggers, I use them as live food for my redfin pickerel breeders. They are tough, I catch them from water where almost nothing else will live. The black spotted ones occur naturally in normal populations, I think they occur in response to stress but I can't prove it. it seems that the worse the conditions are the more of the black spotted males you see. I know of one population where males occur at about 10 times the normal rate.

They are pretty some have gold flecks to which look nice with black and white . The females are all drab looking .

My males hate each other F present or not.

You know that's a great theory and I think your right .
The clean lakes around here have reg drab looking males the Canals are only place I found my black/white males.

I had them inside in a tank few spotted males with few reg females . Didnt get any spotted male babies.

Added the females to my cichlid pond to eat mosquitos months later have black/white males being born.

Might be the stress of some being eaten by the cichlids though lot's cover and most live and breed.

I'd eventually upgrade a BGK to something bigger than a 30, but it would work for a little while
