Cool native fish site

I did a google picture search looking for wild caught goldfish and found one that lead me to the site.
 
Thanks for the link, that almost did the trick into getting me into keeping native fish, its getting tiresome to spend too much money on fish with my limited budget. Natives cost gas and time and profanity and frustration, however freeing up money for bigger tanks better filters and something new that i havent really focused on before.

Got me wondering if anyone has ever kept alewives (probably a huge P I T A) or gizzard shad before in a tank. However living in michigan i'm sure the DNR has some rule or another that i'd have to look into before pondering that too much.

The great thing about collecting your own natives is the feeling of pride you get. It's a lot more satisfying to look at your tank and knowing that you had to work hard to get that species rather than just buying it.
I have tried keeping members of the herring family, very difficult. Nearly impossable.
