I'd never seen anything like this before, thought I would share with the class. I couldn't get too close or she would come to the top of the tank and beg for food. She only did this when the fry got pretty large, maybe their feeding was becoming annoying? She would lay on her side like a feeding sow!

I’ve witnessed this in some of mine before.
Just FYI
If you have an exceptionally attentive docile parent the fry can actually start to do damage and pick to much of the parents fish slime coat leading to sores or open wounds.
I’ve had to step in and remove fry before to stop this from occurring.

It may mean that you are not providing enough small feedings throughout the day.
I learned my lesson when fry ate a gaping hole in my haitiensus male. (photo below) Ihad to remove him from the fry tank.
I was working at the time, and I believe as fry grew they needed at least 5 of 6 small feedings during the day.
So I started putting rocks and other objects outside in water features for algae to grow on quickly, and replaced them periodically as the fry grazed the algae off,
and allowed as much algae as possible to grow in the fry rearing tanks.

Yes, this pic was of their first spawn from fall last year and I did let it go to far. She had a small open wound from interactions with the male and the little cannibals made it bigger before I realized what was going on. I wasn't prepared for raising fry at the time...came across the picture while cleaning out my old phone. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I wasn't feeding enough. Thanks for the tip about the stones, I've got a stock tank that will grow plenty of algae! That's what I grew out the parents in...
