im going to get a twelve gallon tank for my desk. any good ideas for my setup and for what fish to put in it. i want something creative and unusual. please help.

I'd do a chill little planted tank. Get yourself a small school of cardinals and some shrimp.

I'd get some small live plants and some ram's or ghost catfish some small clown loaches anything that stays small would be neat. You could also try a mini eel fish such as a yoyo eel, they stay pretty small for a long time.

Dwarf puffers are unusual. I havent ever had them though. I might be getting a couple soon. You have to feed them snails though that is the only bad part.

dwarf cichlids are the way forward, get a breeding pair or male and female and watch their rituals unfold while u work

mine can survive on glass shrimps

No one has mentioned dwarf pike cichlids!! SHAME!! You would only be able to get one though, just not large enough for a pair. You could also do checkerboards...pimp little fishies...:D

Something that noone has mentioned yet....but why not consider Salt Water? A tank set up with a single Peacock Mantis Shrimp would be hella bad! They are gorgeous, smart, and predatory! Just watch your fingers! I would get the spearing type instead of the smasher though....prettier!
