Okay guys...I'm new to this, and pictures will be forthcoming, but I thought it was an awesome idea.
This came about at school when someone brought home a carnival goldfish and had it in a tank, yet refused to provide it filtration because of the 'cost'. Well, here's what I did.
I emptied a regular 20oz water bottle and drilled holes in the bottom. The bottle was then threaded with an extra hose and an airstone (because I am a dork and literally kept a 40gal rubbermaid tub of fish stuff in my room, at the time I was running 3 tanks), filled the bottom with a mixture of charcoal, zeolite, and a little bit of gravel, stuffed the top with cotton balls (and it took like, 2 bags of cotton balls), presented the person (who was a friend) with the filter, and said 'ta-da!'. Two weeks later I tested the water (it was a 10gal) and levels were normal. I'm just sort of proud of this
Anyone else have similar projects?
