What do you nano guys use as a cooler for your tank? Do they make coolers designed for smaller tanks in mind? I haven't seen anything about this anywhere really, and the smallest coolers I've seen are still rather pricey and I think overkill for my 29g tank.

Summer heat waves in the OC have been increasing my tank temps and it's going to end up costing me more in electric bills with all the AC running I'm doing just for the little tank, haha.

I've been using bottles of water filled with filtered water and frozen to keep the temp. down. It works pretty well but I pretty much have to be home. I don't want a random heat wave to kill my tank while I'm away and I can't really keep the AC on all day long when no one's home either.

What do you all do to battle this issue?

they actually do. most are designed for the actual nano kits though. Im unsure if one of those for the redsea 34 gallon would work on your 29 or not. I have never seen one in person and im unaware as to how they hook up. Maybe somebody has a link to one.

also, what kind of lights are you using on the tank??

Lights are not really helping the situation though either. Have you looked at the return pump. I know some nano kits have pumps that tend to produce more heat then wanted. another option would be to find away to have the lid open so more air transfer can take place, thus allowing the heat to escape the tank.

Try a small fan blowing across the water surface. Will increase evaporation though. I have used a small chiller before called the Ice Probe.
