anyone have any ideas how i can cool down my water with out geting one of those chiller things. my temp is geting to be at 85 and i need it at about76 or so. i think its my light and the fact that my heater in the house is always on. what ever it is the temp alwayes rises. any ideas to bring it back down. wter changes do the trick for a day or two then it back up again. :screwy:

ya thats a good idea

You must have some serious lighting on your tank. Or, it is extremely warm in your house. Do you have a heater on your tank? Are you reading your thermometer correctly? Try dff lighting or dont leave them on as long.

ya i think its bc my house is so hot. when you come back from iraq where its 130 you need the house at least 80. but ya the heaters off and the light gets hot bc the fan is off

In the hot summer days my tanks would stay at room temp 85-90.... Until I bought central a/c..:naughty:

It is prob cuz of your house temp, and not so much your lights...

i new it i guess ill try and cool it down some how

Why do you want the temp. so low, 85 is a little high for bluegill but not bad for most tropicals.

I've thought about using a radiator or transmission cooler and running a fan on it while the water circulates through it, similar to how it works on a car.
I dont know if it would work... its just a thought i had.
