Went back to my roots today and picked up some Afriggins. A young pair of these bad boys. I'm pretty stoked as they are quite rare both in the hobby and in the wild.

Love the 2nd side profile shot Mark. How often do they flash those colors?
 
For the record, the pics I posted are not my fish. Mine are nowhere near that large yet and nowhere near as colorful. They are only about 3" right now.

Regarding color, like any dominant male they will stay fairly colorful all the time with heightened colors during courtship. My male has the blue body but has not developed the lyre-tail or bright red dorsal yet. The female is a silver sardine.

Just starting to show hints of red in his dorsal. Oddly, the fish is much more blue than what this picture shows. For some reason the flash is washing all the blue out. I'll keep trying...
