Ok : I KNOW if you copper live rock it will be destroid/dead . I am not a scientist and I suspect no one else here is either . SO : If I weed the copper 100% out my water ~~

( I understand it will never come off the rock that was present at the time of copper in water because it attaches it's self )

~~ And add A new piece of live rock , will it sustain the benificial bacteria or will it die just because at one time there was copper in the water ?

I would bet the new live rock will live and the copperd old rock will never turn live again Lets talk ...

Actually no. Copper will slowly wash out of the rock. So depending on how much we are talking about your old live rock can and will come back, just a question of when. I don't think that the bacteria is whats killed by the copper, unless you are using far more than you would use for medication. Copper typically kills the inverts living on and in the rock. As they die the spike the organic waste in the tank.

I had a similar thing happen when I had roommates. Once I kicked them out they were no longer topping the system off with tap my rock has come back. Lost most of my hermits, polyps, etc. The BB in the rock were fine. Didn't even have to add new rock just WC.

I have used copper with live rock. Had to, no other way was open to me...

Everything went back to normal very quickly. Just respect the dosages stated.

THX guys for sharing :) My copper treatment is over in my display tank ...
"I believe in high turn over rate on filter pad/pad's to keep your Ammonia and Nitrate in check" in a fish only tank .,...

sometimes I change two times a week (Soon as I notes off color on the white filter pad)

It dose no good to filter water threw old dirty waste .

The copper does slowly come out of the rock just like it was slowly absorbed. So yes, the rock will come back in time when all the copper is gone. The amount of time this will take will very by how much copper was used and how porous your rock is.

The bacteria in the entire system IS killed with copper treatment. It directly causes organics to spike in addition to the inverts dying.
