Copper Oscar?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it does look albino, but instead of white its copper

Oscars often change quite a bit as they mature… just because it looks ‘copper’ as a baby does not mean it will keep this look as an adult…

Charging $30 for a $6 fish that happens to look a little different at this early stage of life is a complete scam. Making up a new name for this new fish is how they convince you it’s worth paying extra for… In my opinion this is bad business and should not be supported…

It also drives me crazy when people call these Oscars “albinos” when they are clearly not albinos… “Lutino” is an accurate, legitimate term we should be using…

Edit/Add –

The Breeder does not have any more, so who knows when these will be availabe again. Only a handfull available.

The above quote is from the site linked by the Original Poster.

That statement tells me that these fish are regular old Lutino Tiger Oscars with a slightly different color tone. If the breeder truly create a new color variety, then they would have a pair of fish that makes hundreds if not thousands of “Copper Oscars” each month… but instead the breeder is breeding a regular old pair of ‘Lutino Tiger Oscars’ and a few looked like this.

Paying extra for these few weird looking fry only encourages breeders to raise out large broods and isolate anything that looks different and charge extra… instead of culling the weak and selling the strong…
