I have loads left from my old mbuna set up can i put it in with the fish i have in my avatar?

it'll keep the ph real high, generally flowerhorns (if thats what it is) are mixes of SA/CA cichlids which typically want lower pH but in reality theyd probly be fine b/c they were prboly raised in captivity

its a flowerhorn so it was DEFINITELY bred and raised in captivity lol, and yeah i dunno CA do fine in the higher pH but SA will want it lower, but it is probably mixes between CA cichlids so it will probably be fine, just dont add any SA cichlids or plecos or anything like that to the tank that like softer water

so if your talking about all the fish in your signature and not just the flowerhorn then i think only the FH, texas and dempsey could be kept with that sand, the others need lower pH and softer water

It will raise you Ph and harden your water. If you fish is doing fine in your tap water I wouldn't mess with it.

The only reason i want to do it is becasue i want white sand, and this is really white, and i have about 50kg of it, the white sand in the shops is pretty expensive, £7 for 5kg, i dont like the play sand/pool filter stuff, its to clay like for my liking, even tho cheap.

I was using black fine gravel but dont show off my flowerhorns best colours.

The eventual stocking in this tank will be just centrals, the sa's will go into another tank soon along with some of the peaceful centrals because my Flowerhorns will probably kill most of the fish in the tank later on.

I just realised i wrote 'avatar' lol, i meant signature :P

well play sand and pool filter sand have completely different textures, the play sand is the one that is very small grained and compacts easily, pool filter sand is a very nice large grained sand that is white in color, the aragonite sand might be a tad whiter but not by much IMO and i think the PFS would definitely be a much better option

Is Pool Filter Sand available in England? i have never seen it before :S Just heard about it lots here.

nope not that im aware of.
