Over the course of 2 weeks, my female Coral Catshark has developed a hump on her back, just before the first dorsal fin. I do have a male in the tank, and both are at a size and age they could be sexually mature. I was thinking, like snakes do the females develop this, arching of the spine to help with carrying any potential eggs? She has yet to lay eggs in this tank.

Water params are good, and she has been in my tank over a year with the male. They currently eat squid, anchovies, and scallops every so often. I have beem hiding Mazuri vitamans in their food, which they sometimes spit out.20170905_225938.jpg 20170905_225938.jpg 20170906_061815.jpg 20170905_225938.jpg 20170906_061815.jpg

Any help would be appreciated.

I've kept breeding coral catsharks and egg girth has never looked like that. From your photos the deformity looks like the result of a collision with the side of the tank.

You could be right about maybe hitting the tank. She is still well and eating. Havent noticed her having trouble moving, turning or swimming. But she is not as active as before.

Still swimmin. Hump isnt getting bigger or showing signs of going away. Still not as active as she was prior, but eats normal. New larger tank should be finished by Jan or Feb next year, so will have a bit more room to swim.

She came out ready to eat tonight. Surprised how much she ate. I tried throwing in just a few pieces to entice her to come out, but the male coral cat and bamboo were going crazy and chasing the other fish around nipping at them so tossed the rest of the food in.
