I'm trying to figure out on lighting for 75 gallon with corals. I have looked into aquaticlife 6 bulb fixture 328 watts also looked at aquaticlife metal halide at 150 watts. Would the 6 bulb fixture be better than the metal halide fixture because of the wattage? Some say 3-5 watts per gallon of lighting. Or try an led fixture?

I'm no pro with corals but allot depends on tank depth and most importantly what you want to actually grow in the tank. Depth is easy. Do you know what you want in.your reef?

I am interested in mushrooms , polyps possibly find a coral that will host my maroon clownfish

Mushrooms and polyps are generally low light corals. If thats all your interested in you could get away with the 6 bulb fixture.

The way I look at lighting is get the best you can afford. I know I am not the only one who has cheeped out and ended up spending twice the money later
as far as what to get T-5's work great but you do not get the shimmer of halides or LED's
my favorite lighting was always metal halide with t-12 VHO actinics great color and growth
I switched over to AI sol blue LED's a year and a half ago and Im still having issues with some of the harder to keep SPS but everything else seems to be thriving
but overall I like them but it was hard to get the schedule set for a mixed reef without bleaching out the LPS and cooking the zoas
