Hi guys,

The fish I want to tell you about is not big - actually, it could be great food for some bigger animals, because it is one of the smallest creatures on the reef :) The name is Bryaninops natans, it's a goby, and it is a really beautiful marine fish:

And when in a proper mood, it can be a real monster - it scares away fish which are about 50x bigger!

Do I get your attention? Good :) Continue reading ;)

In 2010 I did a small research in Dahab, Egypt, trying to get some information about natural behaviour of this small goby living on the coral reef in the Red Sea. I made a video about the life of this fish, and lately I was finally able to make full English version - I post it below :) The "scare away" part starts at about 06:00 min of the video, but maybe the rest of the movie will give you some information and inspiration, too :)

Enjoy! :)

Cheers,

I love goby fish! I actually have a dog named after this very fish. I would like to have one in my tank as soon as it is ready to accept fish!
