I plan on buying some coral soon, I could use some tips on how to care for it. I plan on starting out with mushrooms since they're beginner friendly. I have a power head providing current, and a dual bulb 24" T5 light for my 29 gal. What do I need for it to thrive? I'm not quite sure on food. How often and what kind of supplements should I add?

for shrooms no food or suppliments are needed, water changes will keep trace elements high enough. 2 t5ho will be enough light for shrooms but you will want another 2 at least for many of the corals available. Reef2reef or reef central are great sites for coral care info.

Please be sure your tank is 100% cycled before adding anything. What are your parameters now?

I'm not planning on adding coral for at least another 2-3 weeks. My tank has started its cycling now. I got an Amnonia lvl of .25 and nitrates of some where between 5-10. For some reason I don't have any trace of nitrites in my tank, I guess the bacteria was already there to convert it over to nitrates? (Maybe still in the filter pad since I didn't change it out to help boost the cycle process) Anyway I wanna make plenty sure that its all settled before I invest in the coral. I just wanted to make sure I had everything I need when I do add it to the tank. I diffinitely want to start off with polyps and mushrooms. They seem pretty hardy.

Ummm... I'd make that 2-3 months! You need an extremely stable enviornment to keep corals. Have you read those articles I linked you to?

what are some further specs on the T5 light??

What brand?
Individual reflectors, or modular?

I agree with pufferpunk and cant stress enough that your tank should be very stable before adding coral. Although Mushrooms are beginne friendly, a unstable tank can kill all corals.

And dead corals=tank crash=everything dead.
