hey ve currently got a 50 gallon 3x1.5x1.5ft its a south american setup but im getting a 4 foot for free. i am gonna move my south american setup to the 4 foot. this is not for a while. basically my tank is under a chelving unit and on top of a bench. i have a light single t8. i want to leave the tank there. ive only got a few centimeters of clearance in between top of tank and sheling but it come s out from the shelve at least 20cm. i can up grade the lights but not to a mh lighing unit. only to a flouro. are there any good looking corals/anycorals that are low maintanance and dont need a ton of lights. also i only want 2-3 small corals in this tank. im not going for a hard out reef. i just want a few fish and a few corals.

usually soft corals are lower light, things like mushrooms and (i think) xenias.

I agree about the t_5's I am running a 6 bulb retrofit kit on my 75. It is mostly SPS LPS and clams. I have plenty of light. The secret is the individual parabolic reflectors. don't waste your money on anything other than individual reflectors. Good luck.

yeh i cant fit 6 bublbs there are 8 bulb sets but way to expensive. im a probably do a tank with 4 bublbs and 2-3 soft corals. thanx for the info guys. ill keep em at the top.

if you are crafty you can always retrofit the light that you have yourself to a compact flourescent.....ahsupply.com is where we got ours. we have compact on our tank and we have zoas, shrooms, trumpets, xenia, sun polyps, green star polyps, leather coral and fish and shrimp. and everythign is doing fine...it does work, and it might be more in your budget as well. lotas of different sizes to choose from. hope this helps
