I just installed my new Coralife Super Skimmer 125 and needed help with it. I was wondering how you dial it in. I know how to use the dial and stuff but my collection cup just keeps collecting water in it and I have to empty it every 20 or 30 minutes. Is there something I can do to make it work right or just keep trying until I get it right?
Thank you,
Ryan

is it brand new?? sometimes when there new they need to break in and this stops, othertimes its because you have to much air going through. at least i think lol. im not entirely sure, but with my deltec skimmer, i didnt let as much air go through and the skimmate got thicker! other skimmer actually have a high that you can have the cup set at. the higher the height, the more foam and thick skimmate you get, the lower, the more water you get. im not sure on that model however. couple of things to try and get back to us about!!

Either you have it set to pull too much water in or something in it is clogged.

I can't remember what it is but when we first got ours it did that and the coralife people told us what to do to fix it. They were really helpful and it worked just great after that with no problems again.
I can't remember what the issue is though so you'll have to call Coralife unless someone else on here knows anything about it. It's a defect in the way they manufactured some of them IIRC. Some people have had trouble contacting Coralife but we didn't have any issues at calling the phone # on the box and they told us how to fix the problem very quickly.

I had a similar problem about a week and a half ago with the Superskimmer 65. Mine was used, so I didn't have to break it in (which can take a few days/weeks). My cup would fill up in about 10 to 15 minutes because the air intake on the pump was mostly clogged. Once I cleaned it out, it worked just fine. Check the intake, air line and silencer (if you're using it). Also, how deep is your pump? It should be 2" to 3" inches below the surface of the water (the closer to the surface, the better).

Something to keep in mind with these skimmers is that they are sensitive to water level changes. You've got to keep the tank topped off, or you will not be getting an efficient skim. Also, once you get it going, don't be worried of it produces a lot of microbubbles. They will pretty much go away after a few days (unless it's a new skimmer, in which case it could take a week or two).

Once you get everything working, open the valve so the bubbles are near the bottom of the cup then make as small of an adjustment as you can then let it run for an hour or so. Continue raising the bubble level until you get the kind of skimmate you desire. It takes time, but it's worth it. Superskimmers are skim well, once they have been fine tuned.
