I'm being given a Coralife Turbo Twist 3x 9 watt UV steralizer, and I have some questions.

1. Is it really rated for up to 125 gallons like they claim?

2. I have two options at the moment for hooking it up. 1. To my Eheim 2217 rated for 264gph. 2. To my Aquaclear 70 Powerhead w/filter attachment, maximum flow rate of 400gph. Which would be better? Or should I take a different approach?

3. It does not come with the bulb, so I was going to order some from Ebay. Are these as good as the original Coralife bulbs? http://cgi.ebay.com/2pcs-9W-9-WATT-...in_0?hash=item27ab18eb33&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 Is there anywhere that sells the Coralife bulbs cheaper?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

imo the eheim would be better. 400 gph from the power head may be too much flow for the uv to work efficiently. Search for info on the uv.

I have one on my Fluval 405 ( a nine inch one). I had a really bad green water problem and it took care of it in just 3 days. Not really rated for 350 gph, but it worked. Hope I helped a little.

You can adjust the power of the power head right ? Run it with a aqua clear quick filter (You have to pre filter UV exposed water to keep the light and compartment as clean as possible) And cut the flow to around 90-200 gph depending on your needs. If its for green water a higher flow is ok. However for parasites protozoans you want as much water dwell time to kill the parasites. Ive adopted the 10 gph per watt rule on my 18 watt turbo twist (Hooked to an aquaclear 50 powerhead with quickfilter) And its awesome. The fish look like their swimming in midair.

Would it be ok for a 125, or would that be pushing it? And would those bulbs on ebay be ok?

Depends on what you wish to accomplish with it as far as tank size. Do you have a link to these Ebay bulbs?

the lower the flow the better, but because of the twisting design giving the water maximum contact time, you will be fine @ 264 or 400.

and yes, it will be more than enough for a 125
I honestly think that it will be fine at those flow rates to remove green water and bacteria. But I am very doubtful it will do anything to fight protozoans and parasites. If that is what he is looking to take care of he will need more dwell time.
