I was up at petco today and the one locally to me had all of their corallife fixures on clearance for under $10 a piece. I picked up two 65 watt 30" 50/50 fixtures for my 55 and I wanna make em work. Would an all glass, or acrylic top be my best bet? I have to have a hood, because of the ACFs in the tank. Im running the cheapy plastic hood that came with the tank right now.

Is it easy to cut acrylic? What would I use? razor, cut-off wheel, or jigsaw?

All they had left is 1 24" 50/50 and three 30" I picked up two of the 30" and the 24".

I was looking at using the 24" on my breeder and making the two 30" work on the 55.

My other question is the 50/50 bulbs that come with them are 10k and acticnic. Will the 10k be alright for plant growth?

Any pictures of hood with light fixtures on top would be greaty appreciated.

i would use a electric saw, i guess a jigsaw would work. i used a table saw to cut mine.

ive grow a plant or two before with a 50-50 bulb before. i would replace it eventually

I have a table saw too. Did you use a metal cutting blade? Im more concerned with cutting the filter openings.
no just a regular one, just make sure its at full speed when you cut. its really not that different then cutting pvc i think
