I was given some corie cats and Blue ram cichlids that I do not want. Has anyone tried using these as feeders? They are about 1.5 inch and would be fed to dats, gar, red tail, bichers, all at least 6 inches. Is there any spines in these fish that might cause indigestion?

Thanks

Cories have spines on there back, same with Rams.
I wouldnt do it.

Just sell them, I would.

Well, it's causing me indigestion to think of you using them as feeders!

I'm not sure about that one. I would be leery of the catfish.

The rams would be fine but watch the corys they have spines on there sides that could cause problems for safety i would clip the spines on the corys if they feal sharp they may be softer if there young but if there adult corys i would clip them for sure if you wan't to feed them

how many rams? i'll take a few

take the cories too depending on what type

Yeah, that's what I thought, but wasn't sure about the rams -- don't do it!!! You can probably sell them and buy lots of more suitable feeders.

I'd just sell them.
Plenty of people like cories and rams.

The rams would be okay for feeders, but you could get ~3-4 tetras for each ram. The cories are a no go, they have many sharp spines, and hard skulls that will result in blockages in your big guys.

I'd sell em man, cories and rams are popular for planted tanks. You can always try man, before feeding them to your fish, even though I would never try feeding cories or rams ever to fish.
