State of chaos
i put a piece of "cork" driftwood in my 5.5g with White Clouds, an Otto, and a Snail. well i just noticed that the water is clouded and tinted brown! :irked:
WTF!!
apparently i dont need to take the driftwood out.
i do kinda like the way it looks...all natural and stuff...just dont wanna harm my fish

don't worry its just tannins, harmless to ur fish
did u soak the wood before putting it in?

:iagree: those are just tannins. usually if you boil the piece of wood you can get most of it out. but it will disapear sooner or later. :D

its fine all driftwoods do but it shouldnt turn cloudy just brown.

:iagree: I soaked my rather large pieces in a bathtub for 3-4 weeks with water changes every 2-3 days.

But it's supposed to be harmless to the fish and I actually like the look with brown water :D

me too. a big 55g with Farlowellas and Ottocinclus with piles pf driftwood and that stuff would look awesome.

my white clouds are kinda sluggish...think ill put the driftwood in hot water to try to get that stuff out

I had some driftwood that did that and I didn't care for the tint and I pulled it out and I boiled it and did everything taht I could and didn't work so if you like the tint then cool if not then just take it out the tint won't hurt the tank just make it look like TEA!
