in my opinion the best substrate that i have used for reptiles would have to be pine shavings, that is what i use for my bearded dragon and ball python

i was thinking maybe care fresh ?

huh?

IMO best would be newspaper or similar, aspen, woodchippings.
Pine and ceder are the woods to stay AWAY from.
How bigs a 50 gal? You should be looking to keep them seperate, but I guess it's doable. Do you know the sex of them?

davo, a 50 gallon i believe is the size of a 40 breeder tank.

i personally like cypress mulch for a substrate. 50 gallons will be plenty for one, and probably for two but i wouldnt want to house snakes together. i worked at a pet store and we did have instances of corns eating corns. why risk one of your pets?

Hi Pine shavings are the second worst thing to use the only thing that is worst than that is cedar!!!
what I have used with great sucsess is aspin shavings!!!

Shredded aspen is GREAT for corns,
And do not cohab, SO many reasons not too...
If you can't afford a second cage, you can't afford a second snake.
