Hello I am looking at setting up a terrarium for a corn snake i have some substrate left over from when I had frogs, It is made by exoterra and is called forest bark. The thing is is that it is made of fir and i have read alot of different information of the net saying it is fine or it will harm my snake what is the real answer?

Thanks

If I were you I would just clean it out as your frogs may have something that the snake could catch and get sick from (cross contamination). Also I haven't heard anything about fur or whatever but I just use aspen bedding for my corn. Nice looking, easy for her to burrow in (something they love doing), and pretty easy to spot clean. Just my opinion though.

fur will be fine for snakes. it is not necessary for corn snakes though. i usually use bark for the humidity. since corns aren't a high humidity snake you really don't need it, but it will work. just be careful as mentioned above of cross contamination.

I may have worded that incorrectly its is not the exact stuff that I used for my frogs just the same kind of substrate. I was going to go aspen but I am getting a lighter coloured snake so it would look better on a dark subsrate than a lighter one.
