WellI came home to some very sad news. I came home and my one and a half year old corpintus was in very bad shape and well, dying. I did everything I could to keep him alive, but in the end he had no strength left. This is the first time one of my long kept fish has died on me and I am surprised how sad it was. I got him as such a little baby and watched him grow up, but I should of known... He was the boss of the tank until I introduced a fire pike. Over time the Corpintus became over powered and bullied more and more everyday. They must have really gotten into it because he was banged up really bad and had nothing left. I know my Corpintus would have wanted me to publicize his death on MFK and tell everyone about his last moments. Truly a sad day for me....RIP Corpintus, my tank will truly never be the same without you.

Any time you add a new cichlid to an already established tank (especially with a very territorial species like carpintus) you run the risk of having the new fish killed overnight, or the tank alpha fish die, defending its territory.
When fish grow up together, they set up a hierarchy which maintains a fragile order, a new fish totally turns that order upside down.
