hi guys i was just wondering what would be or is the best temp for an rtc and a tsn. The reason i am asking is my 2 seem to have stopped eating, they havent ate for 4 days now and usually ate all there food each day.

The water test has come back all clear but the temp is on 30 is this too high? im trying to lower it a little to see if it helps but im pretty much stumped.

Help please people, i dont want my fish to starve to death as the result of something im doing wrong or not doing at all :(

take it easy mate, catfish are not going to starve for another month or so, in fact you should let these kind of catfish starve once in a while (depending on how much you like their tank mates ;) )

30 may be a little on the high end but not high enough to make them starve themselves.. unless the temperature change was very sudden?

its more likely to be your water quality.. nitrate/nitrite/ammonia/ph?

how big are they and what size tank?

so im panicing for nothing, my amonia and nitrites are 00. my ph is 7.0 and my nitrate is just below 40 i thought this might have been the prob but i googled it and i found out that an established tank with a nitrate of 40 is normal.

my rtc is 12" and the tsn is 7", they are in an 8x2x2 im also not really bothered if they decide to eat their tankmates aslong as they feed ;) im trying to drop the temp down to 28 to see if that will help, its been on a constant 30 since the tank was setup, well 1nce it warmed up anyway.

From planet catfish :recomended temp for rtc is between 21.0 and 26.0 c
69.8 to 78.8 f

Mine like scallops and sinking carnivore pellets.

yeah thats what i was thinking too mate. what else can i feed them apart from lance fish, muscles, prawns, shrimp, bloodworm?
Well i just recieved a huge TSN and a Marbled cat,the former owner(CXJ) fed them raw chicken and these guys are in great shape(just take out what they dont eat because of water conditions)chicken gizzards is another thing or you can go to a bait shop and get some silver sides.:nilly:
