I was wondering what temp. every one keeps their different species at. I mainly have central/south american fish and keep my tanks at about 80 F except for my bass and pacus out side is seasonal. In the summer it is about 85 and they seem very happy at that temp. In the winter I let it drop to about 77-78 F. I have read for years and been told that a good temp is 76-78 F but in the wild the water rarely reaches those temps. 1 fishstore in my area has signs posted around their fish supplies that state about 84 F is the correct temp. for healthy fish. I know the higher the temp the hungrier the fish will be and the more maintenance you will have to do. I don't want to know about that, I want to know about health of the fish.

I too keep South American /\/\onsters:headbang2 ....All my tanks, excluding the feeder quarantines, are set at 82 degrees...I believe the high temperature speeds up the metabolism and actual growth....

82, any higher and when I open the top it feels like a sauna.

I am up to 90F degrees again. It is all pump heat. I am trying to kill some thread like worms right now.
