Hello all,

My first post here ralates to the treatment of what I believe to be White Spot & in Rot in my tank.

So far I have increased the temperature to 85F and used a 7 day course of Melafix, to no avail.

I have read the articles on the use of Salt combined with increased temperature as treatment for whitespot, and they were very helpful - However, although I've kept tropical fish for a number of years, I haven't had to treat the tank before and I find medicating / adding salt to the tank a very daunting prospect, so just want to ask a few questions to make sure I get it right first time :)

For information, my tank is stocked with the following:

15" Silver Arowana
12" Clown Knife
5 x 7" Sevrums (Of Various Types - I assume they have similar tolerances?)
3" Salvini
8" Silver Scat
10" Tyre Track Eel
5" Ghost Knife
A number of Pleco's of various types including 2 large Royal Panaques

Firstly, I am concerned about my fish's compatability to Salt - Apart from the Arowana, only introduced recently, I've had all of these guys in my tank for over a year (Some more than two), and have not once introduced salt. Are there any of the fish listed above which would be less tolerant to salt content? At a guess I would imagine just the peco's, but would like a second opinion please :) Also, what is an ideal Salt ratio Per (US) Gallon for these guys?

What other treatments are advisable to use, if any, with my stock? Will they be OK with Myxazin? I assume salt is generally the most preferred option as is most natural, but is it the most effective?

Thanks in advance for your help.
