Hey all, today I had bought a cortez stingray in and he's eating fine, good condition, swimming perfectly. He shares a 120gallon tank with a Clownfish, Stripped Damsel, Camel Cowfish, Goby, Blue Ribbon Eel, Falcon Hawkfish, Yellow Tang. About 4 hours after I received him I saw he had a few scratches on him, on the middle end of his tail, and noticed they were bleeding lightly, or just stained with blood.

Im assuming the cowfish genocide is the one who nibbled on him, because i have seen him follow his tail around.. So is there anything i should/can do to make sure the stingray gets better? Thanks in advanced!

-Mike

If you think the cowfish is doing the damage get rid of one or the other. The cowfish or whatever fish wont stop on its own. Do you have a cleaner shrimp? I had one that would pic on my rays tail trying to get the skin around the stinger. Is that where the damage is, by the stinger? BTW how big across is the Cortez? A few pics on this site allways help and we like to see too.

About a 6' diameter, and its like on the middle of the tail, and hes still bleeding even after he buries himself.. Ill upload a pic soon.
if its 6'.. its one big ray man..

any place that it could have got its tail stuck in between something? Do you have alot of live rock in there or is it pretty open?

Theres live rock in the middle, but he can swim around both sides pretty easily. When watching him, he knows he cant fully fit on one side, so he goes over it sideways. But im watching the cowfish now, and he just eyes the tail and its obvious... I keep using then net when he gets near the stingray. Is there anyways to stop the bleeding from the ray?
