Does anyone know the IDEAL setup for a pair of cortunix? Anyone had experience with thesese guys? Im looking to build an aiviary for them as they are currently in a rabbit hutch. Any suggestions?
well i just found out my japanese quails are coturnix japonica, and the common quail is coturnix coturnix.
they are quite simple, i would advise no draughts, although i have kept them outside before. aviaries with mesh if you are using mesh should only have small holes i think i read somewhere 7 or 8 mm is good, its just so they dont get there feat stuck and prevent any chicks from running away. also a lot would depend on whether they are chicks, young adults or adults as to how you keep them. what sex do you have? and how many? if you search google there will be loads of care sheets for them
No quortnix here so idk how useful my info will be. But I know you are supposed to provide them with about 2 square foot a piece for the aviary. I have bobwhites and I know they are very simple to take care of. Good luck on yours and I would love to see some pics.
They look pretty young. This years hatch? They look just like my bobwhites without the litter mohawk thingy....haha. Do you have any other birds? I have a pair of lady amherst pheasent, a guinea foul, three bantam (dwarf) chickens, a ton of ringneck doves, and a lone roller pidgeon which was sadly left alone after his partner got taken by a hawk .
Really? someone told me 5..Forgot who.
Hey a few months ago one of the females legs stopped working. overnight. For no apparnt reason. It doesn't seem to hurt her though. She hops, ^^
Any ideas why?
