Cory cat killing fire eel

So today I bought 5 smaller cory cats and everything was good a hour ago I checked the tank everything was good and a few minutes ago I check and my fire eel is upside down on the bottom dead as a door nail and he was fine I've had him for about 5 months is it possible he tryed to eat a cory and the cory stung him and killed him what do you think happened or he swallowed something he shouldn't have

Not sure. They don't have the widest of mouths. Large eels may get a Cory down. Can do a dissection and see. Sorry for the loss.

Its very possible it tried to eat one and got choked by the spines of a Cory. Sorry for your loss.

If the Cory's we're small enough, the eel could have swallowed one. I had to clip a small Cory out of my juvenile polleni's mouth. He had a pectoral fin sticking out of his chin and nose.

Had an elephant nose fish die a while back and woke up to it in Neil the eels mouth got it off him before he could eat it though sorry for the loss mate
