I've had two spawns in the past 6 weeks, transferred the eggs to a little 4 gallon tank to hatch them (the only spare tank I had) with a sponge filter, heater and airstone. All hatched both times, fed them liquid fry food, changed the water, but only had six survive from the first batch. Five of them died after the 2nd batch hatched, then they all died too. I'm left with just one cute little Cory baby who now lives with my Bristlenose babies.
I checked the water parameters - all good. Plenty of aeration. I've tried bare bottom, fine gravel and then sand. I know the tank is very small, but I had little choice.
Next spawn I'll hatch with the baby plecs - they're thriving in a 30"x12"x12" - and see if I get any more joy.
Any ideas why I've lost them all?

what i the tank's temperature? any fungus on any eggs that could have contaminated the water? that's really odd. i have a few my boyfriend hatched, he only lost 1 of 12 babies, and he hatched them ina breeder, left them for a few days and we moved them to two different tanks. cory babies aren't too picky, other than salt levels and temperature. you didn't add aquarium salt did you? i'm sorry you lost your babies, hopefully you find the cause

Thanks for the reply. Temps around 80. Tried to remove all fungus eggs but might have missed some. Both batches lasted about a week before die off. Would it take that long to be affected by fungus? And would it affect live fry?

honestly, i don't think it would, but there really doesn't seem to be much wrong. i know they like slightly cooler water, but warmer temps wouldn't kill them. i would say sometimes batches aren't always the helathiest, but there were several, that's really odd. could be too big of water change, but they're pretty adaptable. they're one of the less sensitive fish I've kept. weird, if you think of any oddities in the tank let me know, Im curious now.

also from what i have noticed with heated small tanks there are some pretty significant temp variations that might have some thing to do with it

I have found that liquid fry food will yield few good fry with corydoras.

What should I feed them? They seemed too small for baby brine shrimp, or are they?
Infusoria? What's the best way to make some?

I've got one great little baby cory out of a LOT of eggs, probably something like a couple of hundred!

I'll see if the spawn again, and hatch them in the baby pleco tank....

This is the food I was using....

They are Bronze Cories by the way!
Just realised I hadn't mentioned that yet!
