I know I'm not supposed to keep cories with goldfish, but I got them all many years ago. Today I found one of my corydoras sticking out of my goldfish's mouth, and it is dead. The goldfish is about 8 inches long, how can I get the corydoras out to save my goldfish? Thanks very much, I guess I'll have to get a new tank for the other cories.

Gonna have to use your hands...Try some tin snips, or small scissors. Cut little pieces until it can be removed...Be careful.

OKay, so I guess I will have to take my goldfish out of the tank. Dang I need a larger net, but I have 2 small ones. Should I keep my goldfish in a shallow plastic bowl with water from the tank so it won't dry out?

Get your hands wet first and just do it...Dry hands will harm your fish...Make sure your hands are clean before, during, and after...Should take only moments. The fish can live out of water for the amount of time you need.

For the benefit of many, I think you should take pics....Be careful not to stick your finger with the Cory's spine.

Okay, I managed to get the cory out, both fin spines were stuck in the top and bottom of the mouth. I'm so sorry and damn pissed off I can't get pictures, because right now I have to access my computer with "limited functionality" and I can only go on the internet. I can't use any other programs.
But I'll tell you that the bottom of the mouth seemed to have a bit of blood, and the left side of my goldfish's mouth is a little bit torn. Do you recommend any products or anything I should go buy to help recover? Other than that, my goldfish is seeming to do okay. Again, thanks a lot. If you want I can upload the pictures when I get my computer fixed again; I have the pictures, just can't upload them.

Well I've heard of this happening before. It's a good thing you got it out.

i would say follow the usual procedure for an injured fish. salt the tank up a little, add melafix and pimafix to help guard against any infections starting in your goldies mouth.

just keep an eye on him, maybe presoak his food some to make it easier in his mouth on the wounds, and keep telling him goldies are supposed to be vegetarians:ROFL:
