So im building a 55g planted aquarium that will be the home of 12-15 tetras and probably 9-12 corys. one of the random fish ive seen that i liked was the gold dojo loach. i have read that they can be a bit competitive over food, even to the point of attacking other fish that takes it food. will it be okay in a tank with corys or should i just stick to the tetras/corys?

It would be fine. Dojos are competitive over food but so are cories. I've housed them together with no problems. Just make sure enough food gets down to the bottom.

Just realize that Dojo Loaches prefer cooler water temperatures than cories and like to be kept in small groups. They're also crazy good jumpers and can be decent escape artists too. All things to keep in mind. Since they're highly domesticated, some of them (especially gold ones, I've found) can live decently in tropical tanks, but if you want to provide optimal water conditions, they should be kept around the mid sixty degrees Fahrenheit.

thanks bob, most of what i read listed the dojos top end still around 77/80 but the bottom as low as 50, i figured it would do fine in the tropical tank, my tank is set at 77 degrees as it was about the average for the fish i had so far. so something for me to think about, thanks again.
