Cost effective canister filter for a 125

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
personally, to me media more important than canister... and i believe many had good reviews on this brand of canister...

currently, i am using sunsun wavemaker and submersible UV filter.

Thin plastic casing, so if you put too much media the casing will flex causing the bottom tray to get stuck to the bottom. The handles suck and easily come off of the tray as well due to weight of the media. The media that comes with that canister needs to be replace, except for maybe the bio-rings.

I use the HW-304B on several tanks. I personally like the flow for up to 75G, and have used on 90G, but for a 125G I would use two of them. I like the filter and for 55 watts + 9 watt UV, I think it is good, but I haven't used anything else to compare to.

I have the HW-303B, which is one size smaller than the HW-304B. I think they are great filters. If you only have the one fish in the 125, then I think you’ll be fine with one of them for now, but if you can put two of them on then that would definitely be better. You could space out the purchases by getting one now to get the tank started, and then getting another in a month or two. I definitely think you’ll like the SunSun HW-304B for the price.

Oh, you will probably have to buy extra media because it doesn’t include enough with the filter kit.
