any help on this one mfk? a 1 year old bala shark is isolated in a 5 gallon on day 5 of treatment with myocin 2. temp is holding steady at 80 deg and i added some salt before the myocin. concentration is just under 3 tsp per gallon. he is still eating and quite lively. this fungus is about 8 or 9 days old. he was in a community tank and no one else is showing any signs of this. he was the only one to pick up this infection. i surely do not want to put him back in the 125 with everyone else while this stuff is still on him.

in the video you can see where he is covered. its on the top / back of the fish in front of and behind the dorsal fin. it also connects on the left side of his body. as it swims away from the camera in the short video you can see where he has it. i also attached a couple pics. sorry my camera is so crappy or i would be able to provide better pictures. thanks.

well i got home from work today hoping something might be better. its not. this cotton like web has moved down the whole left side of the fish body. i'm not sure what else i can do at this point?

i did the five days of marcyn and then did a 50% water change. he is in a salt solution now at 2 tsp / gall. i will bump him to 3 tomorrow ( sunday ) and then 4 on monday. hopefully the salt will do the trick!!

i looked up some google images and i think your spot on. thanks. i had the hospital tank temperature at 80 and a few searches all said to lower it below 76. lets hope i still have a chance!!

I agree, looks like columnaris. Heres a website with some good ways on treating it. Scroll down to the "Treatment Information" portion, http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Columnaris.html

Hope he recovers!

nick i read that exact article last night. once excedrin pointed me to the right disease i did a bunch of searches and learned about the temp. that page was the most helpful.

to make things worse i checked the main tank this morning and i am down 1 more bala shark. no outward signs of anything. i started with 3, now i'm down to 2 with one in the hospital tank. man i hope the other one doesn't show up floating on me anytime soon. they were doing so well too. i think i stressed them a bit too much during the reorganization and move from the 50 to the 125. the tiny little rhasbora's and neons are all fine though. go figure what i thought was the weakest fish in the tank is doing fine and the ones i thought were the strongest are dropping like flies. maybe bala's aren't as tough as i thought.

again thanks for the help fellow mfker's!!
