...eat a full grown Red Eared Slider?

A full grown RES's shell has a 12 inch diameter... could a RTC fit that in its mouth? I'm almost positive it'd try, considering they're insatiable pigs, but since turtles can leave the water if the RTC gets too pushy there's an escape, even if they do get smacked around a little. As long as the RTC can't actually eat it...

I highly doubt the rtc would eat a turtle of that size especially if you dont starve him. A turtle could still do some damage to the rtc and im sure he would realize that. I doubt he would risk injury not to mention the effort of such a meal when other foods are readily available. but anythings possible.

i recently heard of an incident where a large rtc castrated a turtle that was trying to mate with it

doesnt matter what type of catfish it is... any south american catfish is an opportunist... they will try to eat anything they can fit in their mouth.

Its only matter of WHEN it will happen.

Yeah, I figured, which is why I want to know if such a turtle can even fit in its mouth.

Mine ate a Possum that was trying to drink in the pond and fell in. It was vomiting up furballs ....

Or the neighbor's cat.

I don't think its a good idea either the RTS or the RES will get hurt eventually.
