IN YOUR HEAD
could i put any rays with, common pleco, ghost knifes, gar, aro, tinfoils, bala sharks, and a channel cat?

eventually say bye bye to the barbs and bala sharks, plecos can be troublesome as well

well you can put it in there.... but what will happen is a different story..

Actually, as long as the balas are big, 8 to 10 inches or so, they'll be fine. I've got a small school of them in one of my breeding systems, but all are over 8" long.

Pleco's will sometimes suck the slime coat off a ray.

Tinfoils I've found like to bite ray disks......these were big tinfoils, about 10" or so.

Basically, if the fish can fit in the ray's mouth, it will eat it. Anything big and not too aggressive is usually fine with a ray. The aro should be fine as long as it's big enough (no baby aro's with rays).

I haven't had experience with the other fish you've got listed.

right now the balas and tinfoils are 4" the knifves are in a different tank the aro is 15" the common pleco is 12" i put in a 12"tsnxrtc and a 5" rtc soon when it gets like 8" or so my tsn and the channel died but i am going to try and catch another one. do rays have issuses with big cats? i do have a black sand subsrate i think rays need that? how do they do with live plants also? sorry for all the q's i think rays are awsome and i planed on getting one in the past but i had the knives in the tank so i didn't. my tank is 72"x24"x24"

are there any rays that stay smaller then 18" disc size and what kind of growth rate do they have?

Taking into account the eventual size your fish will attain i would say your tank is already grossly over stocked.Stingrays are very special fish that require both swimming space and good water quality,in a relatively small tank like yours with that stocking level and the numerous ornaments they will have neither.......i should give it some more thought!

thats why i didn't buy one before. this tank is a grow out tank for the cats witch will at some point go in a pond. the aro will stay i may sell some of the balas and tinfoils also to thin the heard, or put some in the pond. would the rays go good in the cat pond?

the water quality of my tank is perfict so that i am not worried about the stuff can be moved or taken out. the plants could line the back. my mine consern is the cats, and if they would cause any issues other then size in the current tank? i have been thinking about this for a long time and i don't make a perchuse until i know what i am doing.
