I am wondering if a pair of jack Dempseys could stay in a 55 gallon for life? If not what size tank would they need? I'm saying trio as my jacks haven't paired off yet. I'm pretty sure I have a male and 2 females. If not its a male and ???. So when they pair off ill be setting up a tank for just them.

55 could work for a pair alone. Although a 75 is much better. My female paired off with my male at about4-5 inches. As long as you give the female some hiding places it could work although I've seen some big Dempsey's

this isn't the one you plan on having your oscar, turtle and jack dempseys in? if so then no defenitely no. If not then more than likely you can keep a pair of Dempseys in a 55 IMO. Just make sure you sell the spare when they pair off.

No, nothing to do with the other fish or turtles. I was thinking of slowly selling off my fish I'm not really paying attention to as much, while keeping the Dempseys and pairing them off in a 55.
