there is a tank for sale with a large clown knife in it like 17'' i was woundering if it could be really aggressive its in the tank all by its self so would it be uncommon for it to be really territorial i was thinking of puting cichlids in there if i get it

sorry didn't mean to make two threads

It can be, but it just might mean that they have nowhere else to put it so it's by itself.

yeah i would just be careful what cichlids you get i wouldn't put anything too aggressive in there oscars, p/bass, pikes, eartheaters etc should be ok though as long as they arn't too small :)

ok i want to put my bichirs in there how big should thay be so the clown knife wont eat them

i would say around 10"-12" or more would be ok but i dont think there are many fish that would eat bichirs anyhow - but i might be wrong i'm just speaking from my own experiences:D

ok well i got some time then but how big of a cichlid could the clown knife eat could it eat a 7'' jack dempsy

do clown knifes have really big mouths ive heard that thay do also what do you think would be the best catfish to have with one i like sun and lima catfish but what is a good mix

you have to be carefull because they do have large mouths in comparison to their bodies. they will eat anything they can fit in their mouths and in my case he went after things that he couldnt eat just to be mean. mine is 15" and he chased and bit at a 7" tinfoil barb. but if theres enough space and plenty of places that the clown can call his territory you may be able to get by

p.s. when mine was 5-6" he killed my 4" bichir

17" knife plus cichlids= trouble
