Could I make supermarket-bought treats for a convict?

I was thinking of pieces of shrimp or something...
My single ghost shrimp I found at Petco got stuck under the airpump and died so I fed it to my 2in convict and it grabbed it before it fell halfway down the tank

mine will eat raw shrimp pieces, if thats what your asking. Buy raw rather then cocktail, they are more digestable

I've fed raw shrimp to my fish before too. There are lots of home made fish food recipes you can use too, depending on how much effort you want to put in. Here's one that one of the MFK members posted that he uses...I wish I could remember who posted it so I could give credit where credit is due but I didn't take note of the username.


3 parts beef heart
5 parts fresh shrimp
1 part high quality flake or pellet food
1 part gelatin

Basically mix all that stuff together in a blender or food processor, flatten out on wax paper, make indentions to make breaking off pieces easier and then freeze.
